Our herd fluctuates, but mostly consists of females. We will breed when necessary, but try to work with our current animals. The gestation period for alpacas is 11.5-12 months, so waiting on cria (baby alpacas) takes a little patience!

Fertilizer for Gardens and Yards
Alpaca manure is a great fertilizer. It is formed in pellets, so does not need to compost like others (e.g. cow, horse). It can be added directly to your garden without the risk of burning your plants. Due to the nature of an alpaca diet, there are no seeds in the manure either so you do not have to worry about weeds. It has a good amount of nitrogen and potassium, and enough phosphorus to sustain your garden. One final advantage is that it holds moisture; something all plants need!
If you would like to purchase fertilizer for a large or small garden, feel free to contact us and we can set something up. We always have extra!
Fiber and Yarn for Fiber Artists
There are many reasons to purchase alpaca fiber. Alpaca fleece does not contain lanolin, like sheep, which can cause irritation in some people. In addition, alpaca fibers are smoother and softer, so it does not cause prickles. Alpaca fiber is also stronger, warmer and retains less moisture than merino (sheep) making it a great choice for warmth and comfort.
If you enjoy your project from the beginning, we have unfinished fleece in a variety of colors. If you would like a little more refined fiber, we offer roving, and processed yarn in a variety of sizes (e.g. fingering, worsted, or rug yarn).
If you are looking to create your own, we can discuss blending with cotton, bamboo, hemp or merino; adding some color if desired. The options for fiber are limitless.

Alpaca Sales and Agistment
Are you interested in owning your own alpaca, but do not have the time or space, or just want to wait until you have a full herd (so they feel safe)? We can help. There are times when we will have alpacas for sale, and we offer agistment on our farm. You can purchase one of our alpacas, and allow it to stay with our herd until you are set up. For a nominal fee, we would manage the feeding, care and clean up, while you enjoy the advantages of ownership. Agistment pricing does not include insurance, shearing and vet bills, but you can certainly do those on our farm. Alpacas staying with us do so at your own risk, so we do recommend insurance. And, you can visit your animals when you like; but to keep it easier, we would set up some times. We breed for fabulous fiber, and think you will not be disappointed with your choice. If you are interested in purchasing an alpaca and/or agistment, please feel free to contact us and we can set up a meet-and-greet to discuss your options with us!
